Record levels of capital efficiency for ASA members According to the American Supply Association’s February 2013 report, ASA distributor members are operating at their most efficient level on a capital structure since 2008. Per-day revenue was up 7.9% in February compared to 2012, up 20.6% compared to 2011 and up 35.2% compared to 2010. The PHCP and industrial PVF distributors were up 6.2% on a trailing 12-month basis. For the 28th straight month, ASA members have added jobs, and improved profitability also continues as compared to 2011. All regions showed positive single-digit growth, but Southeast and south-central region sales increased double digits. The industrial PVF segment cooled off a bit after a red-hot 2012. So far in 2013 the segment has grown 2.5%. That contrasts the PHCP segment at a 9.5% growth rate in 2013. Bike ride to raise funds for DPHA scholarships Veteran Supply House Times columnist Hank Bradford White opens new training facility Darlington is embarking on another long-distance bicycle ride to raise money for Decorative Plumbing and Hardware Association’s “Fellow’s Scholarship Fund.” Darlington will start his 1,200-mile ride June 12 in Champaign, Ill., and will arrive in Boston June 28. Darlington has raised more than $50,000 for the scholarship fund by riding his bike from Los Angeles to Boston in 2010 and from Portland, Maine, to Daytona Beach, Fla., in 2012. The LEED Gold-certified building has a 64-seat lecture hall classroom with stadium seating and a high-tech audio-visual system with HD camera. It also has a 5 million Btu capacity “live-fire” training lab with 10 working stations for demonstrations and hands-on learning opportunities.
