Software Olympus introduced the new Corrosion Module software that is now available with the portable EPOCH 600 Ultrasonic Flaw Detector. The Corrosion Module is designed for the growing population of inspectors that require both flaw detection and corrosion measurement solutions as standard application offerings. This optional software provides simplified instrument operation for basic corrosion ap-plications, requiring less set up time and more efficient data collection. Main features of the Corrosion Module include automatic ultrasonic setups based on transducer se-lection, Automatic Gain Control (AGC), Olympus thickness gage measurement algorithm, V-Path cor-rection, and transducer wear compensation using an automatic zero function (“Do Zero”). The Corro-sion Module also features corrosion-style data logger file types, a color-coded Grid View, and a timed B-scan view for fast data collection and consolidated reporting of areas of interest. High intensity and standard-intensity versions are available, each with or without an internal black light filter. The black light filter reduces the output of wavelengths longer than 400 nm. The high-intensity versions produce a nominal steady-state UV-A intensity of 10,000 ìW/cm² at 15 inches (38 cm).The standard-intensity models produce a maximum UV-A intensity of 4,500 ìW/cm² to address aerospace industry concerns. All OPTI-LUX 365 flashlights meet ASTM UV-A wavelength and intensity specifications for FPI and MPI. They come complete with a certificate of compliance for wavelength and output measurements. The OPTI-LUX 365 is extremely compact and lightweight, reducing user fatigue. It provides a steady beam profile that surpasses those of more expensive lamps. The anodized aluminum lamp body minimizes corrosion and withstands heavy use in the field. Its “instant-on” operation means no warmup time is required to reach full UV-A intensity.
