Pacific Plumbing Supply hosts wing-eating challenge for charity Seattle-based Pacific Plumbing Supply Co. Recently held its Wings of Fire Challenge that benefitted Seattle Children’s Hospital. Eight individuals competed in a chicken wing-eating contest. The wings were provided by the local Wing Dome eatery and were slathered with a particularly spicy sauce. “The sauce was exceptionally hot,” Pacific Plumbing Supply Vice President of Marketing Dan Sherman noted. Sherman added the sauce registered a 600,000 on the Scoville scale, which measures the pungency of chilli peppers or other spicy foods. “On that scale, the sauce is many times hotter than tabasco,” he said. “Seven of the eight challengers finished. One guy tapped out. Two guys finished really strong and the other five who made it struggled a little bit.” The event, which was cosponsored by water-heater manufacturer Noritz, raised more than $2,000 for the local children’s hospital. “We’re real happy with how this turned out,” Sherman said. “We had about 100 people there between customers, reps and employees. We appreciate our brave challengers. The event wouldn’t have happened without them. Everybody was a winner.” Johnstone Supply welcomes Ohio congressman Cincinnati-based HVACR distributor Johnstone Supply recently welcomed Congressman Steve Chabot (R-OH) to its facility.During the site visit, Chabot met with Johnstone employees, toured the facility and discussed policy issues impacting the company and the distribution community. “Every day our business is impacted by decisions made in Washington,” Johnstone Supply owner Greg Grimme said. “We greatly appreciate Congressman Chabot taking the time to learn about our company, what we do and how those decisions impact our business.” Grimme noted among the issues discussed during the visit were the impact of regulations upon Johnstone’s business, the need for tort reform and the challenges the estate tax places upon the multigenerational business. “I always appreciate the opportunity to visit local businesses and see the great work being done in our community,” Chabot said. “It was extremely beneficial to be able to discuss with Johnstone Supply’s management and employees the issues they face and how Congress can enact policies that will help businesses like them grow and thrive.”
