MANUFACTURERS AND MASTER DISTRIBUTORS Key to 3 Straight Years of Net Membership Growth THE PRIMARY REASON manufacturers and master distributors join ASA is to support the one national association that advances the PHCP-PVF supply chain and connects them directly with the industry’s leading wholesaler-distributors. A large part of 3 straight years of net membership growth that ASA has achieved can directly be attributed to the strong support of its manufacturer and master distributor members. As a result, ASA would like to thank the following companies for their industry efforts, their continued support, and most importantly, their valued membership: A.O. BOLD VISION Five years ago, ASA embarked on a path to achieve this extraordinary goal, which many thought would be elusive. But with the introduction of ASA University, the journey began. ASA University is an effective delivery system that brings training to the employees’ desktops in a cost-effective and easy-to-use way. Additionally, ASA-U provides the road map for development through job descriptions and performance assessments, which help to guide the implementation of members’ quality workforce development programs. With a strong foundation of educational curricula and resources offered through ASA University, ASA has carved out the perfect pathway to achieve this bold vision. ULTIMATE GOAL While course development and delivery continue to remain a key priority of ASA-U, the ASA Education Foundation Board of Trustees has its eye on the ultimate target – offering a comprehensive one-stop shop that offers members of this industry all the tools and training necessary to remain relevant long into the future. NEXT PHASE The trustees recently met during NetworkASA 2014 to identify the next phase in the development of this comprehensive program and progress toward their vision. New initiatives expected in the coming months will include: • MANUFACTURER-SPECIFIC TRAINING COURSES now delivered through ASA University. • ASA-U TRAINING PROGRAMS for distributor customers, such as contractors. • EXPANDED RESOURCES enabling members to fast-track employee training, thereby shortening the time to fully train new employees. • INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC TRAINING COURSES offered in Spanish. • NEW TECHNOLOGIES such as mobile apps for easier access. • FIRST GRADUATES of the new Master of Distribution Management from ASA-U. • AND MUCH, MUCH MORE! UNIQUE POSITION With more than $5.5 million already invested in the industry since the inception of the Karl E. Neupert Endowment Fund, ASA-U is uniquely positioned to support its members’ needs for training and professional development. End-User Publications Extend Industry Outreach THE AMERICAN SUPPLY ASSOCIATION continues to add value by extending its overall industry outreach through end-user publications PVF Outlook and PB Outlook. PB Outlook, a quarterly publication of ASA’s Plumbing Division, targets key plumbing customer segments with critical information pertaining specifically to their businesses. PB OUTLOOK Backed by BNP Media, parent company of Supply House Times, PB Outlook debuted in April 2013 and is distributed free to an audience of more than 20,000 decision-makers In the following market segments: plumbing contractors, engineers, builders, developers and designers. Most recently, PB Outlook’s circulation has expanded to include an additional 55,000 readers through promotion in the National Kitchen and Bath Association’s weekly e-newsletter, NKBA News. Plans for the publication’s future are to expand readership even more through further promotion in additional industry-related association publications. PVF OUTLOOK PB Outlook is a sister publication to the ASA Industrial Piping Division (IPD)’s PVF Outlook, which began publishing to very high acclaim in July 2012. PVF Outlook, also distributed free of charge, targets about 20,000 PVF industry customers such as oil and gas extraction professionals, chemical manufacturers, petroleum manufacturers, oil and gas field machinery and equipment manufacturers, and mechanical contractors. Most recently, BNP Media has added value to PVF Outlook by offering ASA members The ability to customize publication to end users through custom cover wraps and bands. Plans are in the works to offer the same customization options for PB Outlook in the very near future. BUSINESS SUCCESS Both PB Outlook and PVF Outlook, led by the strong leadership of ASA member-led editorial boards, are an integral part of ASA’s “Business Success” goal of increasing the number of customers recognizing that ASA members enable them to prosper. Both publications allow ASA to connect and cultivate working relationships with end-user groups with which they would not normally have direct contact. LOOKING AHEAD Over the next few years, ASA members will be able to leverage the success of both PB Outlook and PVF Outlook and the trust that industry customers will gain from the informational content in each issue. We are excited about the possibilities that these new publications will provide to the ASA membership.
