Repre-sentatives from participating industry associations, refrigerant producers, and manufacturers of refrigeration equipment and components also provided progress reports detailing the steps they’ve taken over the past year to meet the goal of reducing hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) use 80 percent by 2050. The event was hosted by Dr. Ernest Moniz, U.S. Secretary of Energy; and Gina McCarthy, the admin-istrator of the U.S. Environmental Protec-tion Agency (EPA). Bonfe’s Plumbing, Heating, and Air Ser-vice (St. Paul, Minnesota) owner Peter Bonfe was named Life Changer of the Year by Nexstar Network (St. Paul, Minnesota). The Riverside Co. (New York) added Drain Doctor (Peterborough, United Kingdom) to its Dwyer Group (Waco, Texas) franchising platform. Great Lakes Heating & Air Condition-ing (South Bend, Indiana) received the 2015 Customer Satisfaction Award from Pulse of the City News. BY KYLE GARGARO THE NEWS STAFF P recision Electric Motor Sales, a master distributor in electric motor sales, and Packard Inc., a master distributor of full-line HVACR solutions, are merging. The two family-owned wholesalers believe the business decision will strategically help their companies going forward. According to Precision Electric reps, the company, which sells commercial and industrial motors, was strategically look-ing to add product and found a partner in Packard. Packard reps were interested in expanding into more brick-and-mortar locations throughout the country, and Precision Electric’s 12 U.S. distribution centers were attractive destinations. “We just opened a new distribution center in Indianapolis, and we knew we needed to get more products closer to the customer,” said Susan Kirkland, presi-dent, Packard. “It was real easy to add our critical components of compressors, capacitors, and transformers into their warehousing, bringing us closer to our customers.
