Just press, crimp and save! Milwaukee Valve has greatly expanded its line of UltraPress valves for use in press-connection systems. UltraPress valves are "pressed" into place vs. being brazed, soldered or screwed into service. Designed for potable water, mechanical HVAC and some process applications, UltraPress offers a faster installation alternative to traditional solder or threaded joints. The UltraPress ends are designed to work with compression tools and equipment commonly used in the plumbing and HVAC contractor communities. The UltraPress system represents a substantial labor savings for most residential and commercial plumbing and piping systems - as much as 60% over soldered or threaded joints. Applications for UltraPress operate at an industry standard of 200 psi or less and include heating/cooling, potable water, air and other inert gases. As with soldered or threaded joints, some joint preparation is required (cutting & deburring), but the pressed connection takes just a matter of seconds. Wherever a contractor uses copper pipe and fittings, he can save time with UltraPress. For every valve that would traditionally be soldered into place, about THREE UltraPress valves can be installed. Water service connections and repairs can be made without completely draining the system. Additionally, since UltraPress does not require an open flame, there is no need for "hot" work permits. And UltraPress eliminates running costs for materials such as solder, flux, propane flames, oxygen/gas bottles, etc. In addition to offering ball valves in sizes 1/2- in. To 4 in., the UltraPress line has been expanded to also include gate, globe, check and Butterball® valves. Milwaukee Valve achieved these additional product offerings by developing a screw-in fitting made of the UltraPure® lead-free alloy. Thus, the UltraPress product is available in brass, bronze and UltraPure no-lead alloy. All Milwaukee Valve extensions and accessories are available with the UltraPress line, including the Insulator handle, extension handles, lockout handles, etc. And UltraPress ball valves are available as a press fitting on one end and threaded on the other end for hose-end applications. UltraPress parts are fully annealed at Milwaukee Valve's factory prior to final assembly. Annealing provides increased flexibility while maintaining strength and sealing integrity to accommodate the crimping process. This step ensures the safety features built into the design remain in place during the installation process and for years to come. Because the major certifying agencies (MSS, ASTM and ASME) have not yet established standards for press-connection systems, Milwaukee Valve has developed a rigorous test regimen for the UltraPress product offering. Before production was authorized, each UltraPress design was tested for high-pressure, in-line holding strength and mechanical bending that duplicates expansion and contraction stresses that installed valves may be subject to during service life. UltraPress valves also go through stringent metallurgical verification to ensure material integrity and quality throughout the valve's life cycle.
