Thousands of companies sell software. And while we sell software as well, we recognize software isn’t the outcome customers are looking for when they invest in Epicor. Our software and services simply are tools they use to help profitably grow their business. As their business partner, we help distributors increase revenue and market share, expand product lines, improve service offerings, extend channels-to-market, increase efficiency, add locations and overcome challenges to realize their strategic goals. To us and to them, software isn’t the outcome — growth is the outcome. Software is the means we use to get them there. How does Epicor help a wholesale-distributor grow their business? With pressure coming from so many directions, distributors face more challenges now than ever before. In an effort to meet daily expectations and stringent market standards, sometimes businesses miss out on one major goal: Growth. Epicor drives growth with flexible solutions that provide more accurate information in real-time, driving smarter, faster decision-making and enabling customers to quickly meet changing market demands to stay ahead of their competition, and respond to the Amazon/Grainger challenges. This enables the areas critical to their success to thrive – growing sales, improving profitability, differentiating their business and engaging employees. With deployment options available in the cloud, hosted or on premises, our solutions are driven by industry-best practices and flex to easily accommodate their expanding user base, product lines and geographic range. You mention changing market demands. How does Epicor help distributors overcome this issue? We want to stand out from the crowd of product-focused, technology obsessed, inward-looking competitors and say: “We get it. We share your goals. We’re not just selling you software; we’re using our expertise to build solutions that you will value because they help you grow.” Our customers don’t want the process, they want the outcome. The strength of Epicor business solutions lies in a simplified approach to technology, inspired by our customers and how they work. With many solutions built 100% on Microsoft technology, Epicor solutions foster growth by increasing efficiency in operations and communication. Our goal is to help you get ahead and stay ahead of your competition. Distributors need a partner who knows their business, not just a software provider. How do they know Epicor understands their business needs? Epicor’s solution has more built-in, industry-specific functionality that only a distributor could love, such as work queues, wire cutting, PO variance, queues, kitting, assembly, and production orders, job management VMI and special-project pricing. Our customers are always on the upgrade path without the need to do custom work. We call it extensibility without customization. With more than 40 years of experience with our customers’ unique processes and operational requirements, we support our customers with our deep industry knowledge and our vast expertise in their vertical market. Our solutions are designed for their business. Rich with industry best practices and backed by a team of industry experts, Epicor shortens the time to value and frees resources to focus on growing our customers’ businesses. In fact, Epicor has five times as many second-time ERP buyers than the industry at large. How can software engage employees? By giving employees stronger, easy-to-use tools to work with, on-board new employees so they learn the business fast and get the training to quickly be productive, and provide 24/7 online support, businesses can productively manage employee turnover to not only attract the talent of millennials, but also retain their most experienced employees. The benefits of OmegaFlex CSST Question: What is the primary market for Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST)? Omega Flex: CSST is used for natural gas and LP gas within a building, and has been installed inside 7 million of the 70 million homes that use natural and propane gas in the United States. Omega Flex’s lightning-resistant CounterStrike® CSST has 125 million feet installed over the last decade. Question: What other types of pipes are used for natural gas and LP gas? Omega Flex: Schedule 40 steel pipe has been used for many years for both inside and outside the home. But steel pipe corrodes and requires the use of many fittings that can leak or break. Gas utilities are increasingly using plastic pipe outside the home. For inside the home, CSST has been used since its introduction in 1989. Over 1 billion feet of CSST has been installed nationwide. Question: Why the preference for CSST over schedule 40 black iron pipe (BIP)? Omega Flex: While BIP is a much less expensive gas piping product, CSST can be installed with up to 75% less installation time using fewer connections. This time savings can be extremely beneficial especially when skilled labor is in short supply. BIP also requires a thread cutter and pipe dope for every change in direction, and those field fabricated connections are less reliable than CSST factory-machined fittings. CSST has fewer and higher quality connections, that results in a less chance of a leak or a call-back. CSST is also superior to rigid BIP if there is movement or shifting of the building that might occur from an earthquake, flood, hurricane, or settling – the BIP will crack and leak where the flexible CSST will move and shift with the building without leaks. Question: Are there any other concerns with BIP? Omega Flex: Most rigid steel pipe is made overseas-with little or no quality control. In fact the 2012 International Code Council (ICC) codes now requires 3rd party certification and manufacturer’s identification on all black iron pipe used for gas piping. CSST has always been required to be both certified and identified! Additionally BIP breaks when houses settle or when foundations shift due to high winds or flooding. Question: How would you compare the life/safety performance of using CSST versus BIP over the last 25 years? Omega Flex: The safety performance of OmegaFlex CSST products has been excellent since its introduction in 1997. The issue of lightning damage to CSST has been solved by our introduction and transition to CounterStrike CSST, with a conductive jacket that protects the pipe from electrical arcing. There are on average about 24 deaths every year due to leaks and breaks with black iron pipe gas systems leading to fires and explosions (1). In contrast, no one has been killed in homes where OmegaFlex products have been installed. ERP for customer, vendor and cloud connections What are the hottest ERP topics being discussed by distributors today? Everything we hear revolves around being a better distributor. Suppliers want to create better connections to customers, vendors and to technologies that save time and money. In today’s competitive marketplace it’s not enough to just satisfy customers, they need to be “delighted.” Organizing a distribution business around customer connections decreases price sensitivity and creates stronger repurchase rates with a higher likelihood of customer referrals. An ERP’s CRM components should thread throughout the software for easy, upfront access to critical information that provides a personal touch and eases the sales process – even better is when these tools can be used in the field. Inform ERP embeds CRM tools that quickly highlight buyer preferences, useful personal information, link purchase orders with delivery dates and more. Dozens of contact features turn prospects into new customers and customers into solid, long-term partners. Utilizing Inform’s mobile apps, distributors gain anytime, anywhere access and the ability to check stock, place orders and more, on-the-go. “Starting a sale with the person in mind gives distributors a way to connect to their buyers,” DDI System President Adam Waller says. “A DDI customer revealed that Inform’s embedded CRM tools increased their sales by 60% and dramatically reduced delivery errors. Inform manages distribution businesses from person to profit, solidifying relationships and adding growth.” How important is an ERP’s mobile connectivity in today’s marketplace? Mobile connections are extremely important for suppliers. DDI System is one of the only distribution-centric ERP vendors to incorporate Real-time, integrated mobile technology. DDI’s mobile apps provide instant inventory levels, customer-specific sales history and pricing, and the ability to build complex quotes, sales orders and email confirmations while still standing in front of the customer. Managers review and track sales opportunities from anywhere and have the same access to decision-driving dashboards whether in the office or on a beach. What’s new with DDI System for 2016? As cloud computing gets more popular, DDI System continues to develop for the future. Inform is available for a cloud-hosted environment or on the premises, reducing the costly needs of outside IT companies for redundancy and backup. Inform connects with dozens of cloud tools that go beyond standard needs for business intelligence, reporting, EDI, sales order and invoice automation, VMI and connections to third-party online sales channels. What is the biggest concern customers have when implementing an ERP system for their company? Many companies are concerned with employee ability to adopt new technology. At DDI System we make this transition as easy as possible. Most of our customers tell us their transition was much easier than expected! DDI has transitioned distributors from hundreds of different systems. Our team handles the entire data collection, conversion and validation with almost no downtime. We go on location to ensure comfort levels and proper training match a company’s needs. How does DDI System support its customers after the implementation? We believe in delivering the highest level of customer service. We answer our phones, provide same-day response to support questions and build tools to help our users make the most of their software. Inform users benefit with an online customer portal including an extensive knowledgebase, user community, eLearning videos and more. We even have a blog directly in our software to show the latest news, including free upgrades, webinars, online training, user conferences and more. We are proud that our users have given DDI a 95% customer satisfaction rating! The TESTRITE Inline DWV Testing System is THE game changer. TESTRITE is designed with versatility in mind and can be installed in no-hub cast-iron, ABS and PVC pipe systems in 2”, 3” and 4”. Plumbers are familiar with traditional DWV testing methods such as inflatable test balls, TESTRITE is new; how can we be sure that TESTRITE is safe? TESTRITE meets all plumbing code requirements, and is lab tested and IAPMO UPC/cUPC/IPC listed. The system is rated for up to 50 ft. Of head pressure (about five floors). And it also provides the ability to fill or drain down the test water right at the point of the test tee. TESTRITE is proven safe and effective. In addition, it prevents water spillage and resulting “slip and fall” hazards along with potential property damage. Water often is a problem on a jobsite. When an inflatable test ball is released it often results in the escape of large amounts of water out of the fitting and onto the surrounding floor and onto the user. This can cause all sorts of problems. How is TESTRITE different? TESTRITE features triple-seal O-Ring protection. The product has been engineered to prevent water spillage, which can result in “slip and fall” hazards, property damage and mold issues. Because it prevents water spillage, TESTRITE also helps keep plumbers dry. Any contractor on a construction site can appreciate that… especially in cold weather. That can be miserable! Contractors are always on the clock. They need to do their jobs safely and professionally, but also quickly and efficiently. Does the use of TESTRITE help in this regard? Absolutely! TESTRITE is not only safe and dry, but is incredibly fast and easy to install! In fact, using TESTRITE is up to four times faster than traditional methods. There is videoed time trial proof of this. It can be used in all building types, and it requires only one simple hand tool. Unlike various inflatable test devices, which can require tire pumps with gages or air compressors with hoses and gages, crescent wrenches or mops and floor squeegees, from start to finish, TESTRITE takes only a couple minutes. All these benefits — being safe, dry, and fast, as well as easy to use — must come at a cost. TESTRITE has to be more expensive than the traditional testing method, right? When it comes to value, nothing is more cost efficient than TESTRITE. First of all, there is absolutely no need for air pumps, compressors, air hoses, pressure gages, thread sealants, channel locks or pipe wrenches, which most traditional methods require. All of those items and processes come at a very real cost to the contractor. TESTRITE’s test wedge device is reusable many times (unlike the short lifespan of most inflatable devices). This dramatically reduces your “cost per test” over the lifespan of the test device. For further details, installation videos, product spec sheets, 3D-CAD drawings, BIM Revit models or samples please visit www.holdrite.com or call 800/321-0316. SharkBite plumbing solutions What are SharkBite fittings? SharkBite® fittings are the core products within the SharkBite Push-to- Connect System and provide the easiest and most dependable way to join copper, CPVC, PEX or PE-RT pipe in any combination — with no solder, clamps, unions or glue required. When you insert the pipe, the fittings’ stainless-steel teeth bite down and grip tight, while the specially formulated O-ring compresses to create a perfect watertight seal. What do you mean by ‘The only total rough-in plumbing solution?’ SharkBite is the only manufacturer that provides a complete end-to-end plumbing solution, from meter to fixture, with a comprehensive range of fittings, manifolds, stops, fixture supply connections, outlet boxes, PEX pipe and water-control valves. The SharkBite system is a total solution from one source with one warranty that is versatile and easy to use. How is SharkBite addressing the plumbing trades’ needs/issues? We understand the great pride plumbers take in their work and how the trade has traditionally relied on what is tried and true. We also recognize today’s service plumbers and mechanical contractors are faced with more demanding decisions and challenges than ever before. As the pioneer of push-to-connect technology, our system provides a quick and easy alternative to tool-based pipe-joining methods. With the SharkBite system, contractors are able to finish jobs faster with a high level of quality, increasing the number of jobs they do each day, even with less experienced Or trained labor. This quick and easy pipe-joining method helps save time, labor, money, and provides the freedom to move onto the next project. How about the quality? SharkBite products are certified to industry standards and are field-proven with more than 1.5 million connections made every week. As the market leader with more than 15 years of manufacturing push-to-connect products, research proves our unparalleled quality and performance. Like with all leaders, there are followers. We see new competitors every week and become concerned when testing some of these products. Our concern is from the point of view that if these products start failing, the entire category will be damaged. We would like to see others use the same highquality materials and controlled manufacturing process that we do. None of this is easy or cheap, but it’s what is required to make a product you can confidently install behind the wall. What are the latest SharkBite innovations? SharkBite’s incredible breadth of line is a key advantage to its offering. As the pioneer of push-to-connect, we are continuing to invest in world-class technology for helping the plumbing trade find new ways to work more efficiently. Recently we started integrating our quality push-to-connect components with our Cash Acme water-control valves, providing traditional plumbing products such as pressure regulators and thermostatic mixing valves with the innovative push-to-connect technology. Our engineers constantly strive to drive this category forward and develop new products that continue to revolutionize the industry.
