BRUSSELS—The International Con federation of Inspection and Certification Organizations (CEOC) and the European Federation for Non-Destructive Testing (EFNDT) have signed co-operation agreements with the European Federation of National Associations of Measurement, Testing and Analytical Laboratories (EUROLAB). EFNDT President Vjera Krstelj, EUROLAB President Jean-Luc Laurent and CEOC International President Hugo Eberhardt stated after the signing ceremony that this co-operation marks an important step in the further development of the European inspection, testing and certification sector and enhances the political visibility and technical influence toward the European institutions and organizations in Brussels. These memoranda of under standing are defining the co-operation issues between CEOC, EFNDT and EUROLAB in the field of testing and certification of products and technical installations in Europe and will position these organizations as Europe’s leading inspection and testing representatives and bodies. The growing number of unsafe products reaching the European markets and the ongoing aging of technical and industrial installations call for a concerted action between these inspection organizations providing enhanced safety to the European societies and its citizens. CEOC International was founded in 1961 in Zurich and acts as the voice of the inspection and certification sector at EU and international levels. Its headquarters are based in Brussels. Composed of 24 national associations from the EU and EFTA, EUROLAB is a network of more than 2,000 conformity assessment bodies representing more than 100,000 technical experts and laboratory practitioners. EFNDT was founded in May 1998 in Copenhagen at the 7th European Conference for Non-Destructive Testing (ECNDT). BINDT is a full member of EFNDT along with nearly 40 other national NDT societies in Europe. Ray Industries Acquires PPI Aerospace TROY, MI—X-Ray Industries, a provider of nondestructive testing services to the aerospace and defense industries has acquired PPI Aerospace, a Nadcap (formerly the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) accredited specialty surface finishing company based in Warren, MI. PPI Aerospace will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of X-Ray Industries. The acquisition allows X-Ray Industries to broaden the range of performance critical services it offers to its customers. PPI Aerospace operates three facilities in Warren and currently employs 34 people. Larry Carlson, who joined PPI Aerospace in 2003, has been appointed director of operations with responsibility for day-to-day activities. He will report directly to Robert Broaddus, president of the X-R-I Testing Division of X-Ray Industries. A privately held company, X-Ray In - dustries and its X-R-I Testing Division have nearly 70 years of experience in providing nondestructive testing services to the aerospace, defense industries. Its Test Equipment Distributors subsidiary markets a broad range of equipment and supplies to the nondestructive testing industry. Applus RTD Acquires Two North American Companies ROTTERDAM, THE NETHER LANDS —The Applus RTD Group, a multinational nondestructive testing and inspection through to asset integrity management company, announces the acquisition of two companies specialized in inspections and nondestructive testing: Quality Inspection Services (QISI, New York) and Staveley (Ontario, Canada). These operations, together with the acquisition of JanX (Parma, MI) in 2008 and of Technico (Warren, OH) in 2009, reinforce the company’s commitment to the North American market, where it has been present for two decades with a large workforce. The Applus RTD Group is strengthening its geographical position in the United States and Canada as well as in Different application fields such as oil and gas, power plants, refineries, storage tanks and the petrochemical industry.
