HARDI DISTRIBUTORS REPORT APRIL REVENUE INCREASE HARDI’s monthly TRENDS report shows average sales for member distributors increased by 5.6% in April. The average annualized growth for the 12 months through April 2017 is 8.4%. “April is the tail end of heating season in some parts of the country and the start of cooling season in other parts,” HARDI Market Research & Benchmarking Analyst Brian Loftus explained. “Wherever HARDI distributors were located, they had one less billing day this month and produced results consistent with a healthy market.” “The U.S. Remodeling Market Index reached 58.3 in the first quarter, up 7.0% from the first quarter of 2016 and the highest mark since mid- 2015,” HARDI Senior Economist Connor Lokar noted. “Along with the 6.7% year-over-year improvement of U.S. Private Home Improvement Construction spending to a record $159.7 billion, it is a good economic environment for HARDI members.” The days sales outstanding, a measure of how quickly customers pay their bills, is more than 50 days. “The DSO increase through the year is consistent with the normal seasonal pattern,” Loftus said. “The current level is higher than this time last year, but lower than the 2015 level.” MUELLER INDUSTRIES ACQUIRES HEATLINK GROUP HeatLink Group and its affiliated PEX-a tubing manufacturing facility PexCor Mfg. Co., have been acquired by Mueller Industries. Co-owners Manfred and Garry Schmidt will continue to lead the company with the goal of growing the company’s product platform and geographical footprint. HeatLink and PexCor will complement the wide range of products that comprise the Piping Systems Group of Mueller Industries. The acquisition of HeatLink supports Mueller’s strategy to expand in the pressure plastic products arena with innovative piping and flow-control solutions, Mueller noted. KOHLER EXPERIENCE CENTER OPENS Kohler recently opened its first Kohler Experience Center in New York City’s Flatiron district. The opening marks the kitchen-andbath manufacturer’s new approach to global retail where design professionals will have instant hands-on access to its global suite of products. The global flagship will enable trade professionals to test and source Kohler products. The 10,000-square-foot store is the only private bathing space in New York City where guests can, by appointment, exclusively try Kohler products. The New York City location is the first of nine Kohler Experience Center stores to open over the next year. London follows New York City, along with Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, New Delhi and Taipei opening later in the year. IAPMO ACQUIRES NSPC The International Association of Plumbing & Mechanical Officials and the Plumbing-Heating- Cooling Contractors — National Association (PHCC) executed a recent agreement transferring ownership of the National Standard Plumbing Code to IAPMO. The transfer encompasses all editions of the NSPC, including the 2018 edition. New Jersey and several locations in Maryland are the primary adopters and users of the NSPC. Once the 2018 NSPC is published for adoption, IAPMO will provide all code-support services to all jurisdictions utilizing the NSPC. PHCC and IAPMO will work together to develop cobranded educational services such as code-update classes, code workshops, and other training and educational programs for the NSPC. These educational programs shall be offered to PHCC and IAPMO members, and to the industry. An inventory of all editions of the NSPC will be stored at IAPMO’s world headquarters in Ontario, Calif. Stackpole has spent more than two decades leading trade associations in manufacturing, technology and services. His leadership helped grow technology associations from startup into multi-milliondollar entities and established their positions as leading industry organizations, PMI noted. Most recently, Stackpole served as an advance team leader for the Executive Office of the President, working both domestically and internationally to execute events on behalf of the President and Vice President of the United States. Prior to the White House, he was President and CEO of Printing and Graphics Association Mid-Atlantic, crafting the association’s award-winning marketing campaign and driving its merger with Printing Industries of Virginia. He also has served as CEO of four other trade associations and as an interim CEO and strategy consultant to professional groups.
