FERGUSON OPENS BROOKLYN SHOWROOM Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery increased its foothold in metro New York with the opening of a 9,000-square-foot showroom in Brooklyn’s waterfront neighborhood, Brooklyn Bridge Park. Ferguson first entered the region in late 2012 with the acquisition of New York kitchen-and bath-dealer Davis & Warshow. The new Brooklyn location, the company’s largest in the area to date, marks the 11th Ferguson showroom in the metro New York area. The distributor has 280 showrooms nationwide. “The vitality and vibrancy of this Brooklyn neighborhood make this the perfect fit for Ferguson,” said Mary Cifuentes, director of showrooms in the Northeast region for Ferguson. “As well, this addition reflects our abiding commitment to serving the world’s design capital. The space was carefully created to offer convenient access and inspiration for our clientele of architects, designers, builders, contractors as well as homeowners who are seeking the latest in kitchen and bath.” The showroom, at 360 Furman Street, features working displays, in-store events, product demonstrations and other experiential activities, Ferguson explained. The new location also crowns an aggressive growth strategy by the company to create more than one million square feet of warehouse space to serve the area’s growing business. Known since 1999 as Frank Webb’s Bath Center, the name has been changed to Frank Webb Home to better capture the full extent of the products available, covering not just the bath but the kitchen and whole-house lighting as well. “Our Frank Webb Home bath, kitchen and lighting showrooms are growing in size and product selection to reflect what customers told us they want for both home renovations and new construction,” said Tom Santer, vicepresident of sales at F.W. APR SUPPLY ACQUIRES ENVIRONMENTAL RECOVERY SERVICES Scott Weaver, president and CEO of APR Supply Co., has acquired a majority share of Environmental Recovery Solutions, a first of-its-kind mobile refrigerant reclamation company based in Lebanon, Pa. The acquisition, which was finalized in October, immediately expands the services APR can offer at each of its 38 locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Delaware. In addition, the growth of ERS’ mobile systems and storage capacity will allow APR the opportunity to partner with other regional wholesalers across the nation, creating their own security in refrigerant supply, Weaver noted. “With the production of R-22 coming to an end in 2020, the refrigerant will grow increasingly scarce,” Weaver said. “The market will most likely see the same scenario develop for the supply of R-410 in a number of years. This acquisition ensures APR will be able to meet customer demand going forward.” While ERS acts as a traditional refrigerant reclamator, the company’s specialty is traveling to commercial jobsites in order to collect refrigerant onsite. By acquiring ERS, APR has secured its supply of clean refrigerant. Beyond guaranteeing availability of refrigerant, APR now can offer onsite collection, faster turnaround times and project time savings for customers, the company explained. The heavy-duty reclamation equipment used by ERS is able to draw down large systems about 10 times faster than a conventional refrigerant-recovery machine. This allows contractors to be more competitive and profitable, APR added. “We continue to operate independent of APR,” said Rich Bond, a founding partner of ERS. “There’s already been an overall increase in our recovered and reclaimed gas. Along with the vastly expanded customer base that APR brings, the acquisition will add to our bottling capabilities and storage capacity.” The reclamation company has served clients as distant as Oklahoma when project size warrants long-distance travel. “This acquisition is exciting for both APR Supply and ERS,” Weaver said. “Both companies are poised for growth, and our customers stand to benefit.” MUNCH’S SUPPLY ACQUIRES MIDWEST-BASED O’CONNOR CO. New Lenox, Illinois-based Munch’s Supply, a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning distributor and third-generation family business operating 12 branches in Chicago, Northwest Indiana and Michigan, has acquired Kansas-based O’Connor Co., and expanded its distribution footprint to include six additional branches serving portions of Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. “The O’Connor purchase is part of Munch’s long-term strategy to aggressively grow into other regions through strategic acquisitions,” Munch’s CEO Robert Munch said. “We are excited to welcome O’Connor’s customers and employees. Superior award-winning customer service will remain our No. 1 priority.” O’Connor will continue to operate under the same name as an independent company and will retain its current management team with Executive Director of Operations Greg Borr stepping into the role of president. It will maintain locations in Lenexa, Kansas; Urbandale, Iowa; Omaha, Nebraska; Wichita, Kansas; Tulsa, Oklahoma and Lee’s Summit, Missouri. “We are looking forward to sharing in the resources and leadership of Munch’s Supply,” Borr said. “We are pleased to combine our strengths to further enhance customer service in our rapidly-growing marketplace.” Munch added: “We were impressed with O’Connor’s strong market position, rich 97-year history and commitment to the Trane and American Standard brands in HVAC distribution. Lynn Piller and the O’Connor team have done a fantastic job building a solid and successful operation with superior commitment to its family of contractors.” The union of the two companies demonstrates Munch’s ongoing commitment to the HVAC marketplace and sharpens its portfolio to deliver sustainable growth while maximizing the potential of both brands, Munch’s noted. Munch and O’Connor will combine to operate 18 branches in eight states.
