COMPACT, POWERFUL JM-1000 WATER JET TACKLES TOUGH JOB FOR WIDOW OF MILITARY VETERAN Four hours of snaking couldn’t clear a kitchen clog. The local VA’s maintenance man would run the cable. The sink would drain and then back-up again. That’s when owner Jeff Hankins of Steve’s Service Plumbing in Nampa, Idaho, arrived with a JM-1000 Mini-Jet™ from General Pipe Cleaners. “It was a special job for the widow of a military veteran,” he recalls. “And I refused to leave until we cleared the obstruction for her — permanently.” Results in less than 10 minutes Fortunately, that didn’t take long. Hankins guessed that heavy sludge blocked the 1 1/2-in. galvanized line — and that the grease stoppage slowly reformed after snaking. One of his employees doubted that the Mini-Jet would clear the clog, he says. “But I figured it was the perfect problem for the JM-1000 to tackle,” Hankins adds. The compact, lightweight JM-1000 Mini-Jet is excellent for clearing grease, sand, sediment and ice from small, 1 1/2-in. to 3-in.lines – up to 50 ft. long. It’s great for clogged kitchen, bathroom and laundry drains. With 1500 psi of cleaning power, General’s powerful little water jet hits sticky stoppages with a wall-to-wall stream of high-pressure water — and flushes them away. In less than 10 minutes, Hankins had the lady’s line running free and clear. “You should have seen the look on my employee’s face!” he chuckles. “Now he’s a Mini-Jet believer!” Water jets help boost business and efficiency Hankins makes water jets an integral part of his business — and has two JM- 1000 Mini-Jets for his three trucks. “Our water jets are extremely versatile,” he says. “They’re faster and easier than cable machines on many common clogs.” Equipment reliability and efficiency remain critical to Hankins’ bottom line. He charges a flat-rate for drain cleaning — and must “do more jobs in as little time as possible for maximum profit.” Hankins also offers a supplemental one-year water-jet cleaning warranty to ensure clog-free lines. “We couldn’t offer that without a reliable water jet like the JM-1000!” he says. Technology aids productivity “General’s nozzle-head design really helps negotiate twists and turns — even on screwed-on galvanized fittings,” Hankins notes. Pulse technology helps slide the hose around tight bends and down lines. It breaks the initial tension between the hose surface and pipe walls, increasing cleaning power — and separates General’s Jet-Set® from ordinary pressure washers. Hankins likes the Mini-Jet’s compact size, too. “Our plumbers often find themselves alone on jobs,” he says. “So, they need equipment that’s easy to transport and handle — machines designed for an efficient, one-man operation.” As large as most toolboxes, the JM-1000’s rugged diamond plate metal case with pump and motor assemblies measures only 24 in.(length) x 101/2 in. (diameter) x 11 inches (height). At only 23 lb, it’s easy-to-carry, maneuverable in tight spots and takes up little room in the truck. Rubber feet help protect delicate counter tops. And key safety features include a sensor to stop the motor if water stops flowing, and a 3-wire Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter. Hankins prizes the tool’s “trust factor.” “We like the JM-1000. It’s really affordable and versatile!” To see the JM-1000 Mini-Jet in action, visit www.drainbrain.com/JM1000, or call the Drain Brains at General at 800-245-6200 for more information. Lochinvar introduces NOBLE Fire Tube Combi boiler What is your company philosophy, mission statement, operating principles, etc.? A: Since 1939, commitment to product innovation and customer service always has been a priority with Lochinvar. As it’s included in our corporate vision statement, product innovation, superior customer support, and education help us remain one of the most successful and respected manufacturers in the industry today. We’ve continued this trend year after year with new product introductions. Most recently, we’ve introduced a new combination boiler — NOBLE, a tankless water heater product line — and have added larger capacities to our copper boiler offering. What features make your products stand apart from the rest? A: Lochinvar has the most extensive product line in the industry. We offer boilers from 40,000-6 million Btu/h in both condensing and non-condensing design. Our water heaters and storage tanks range from 2 gal. to 5,000 gal., as well as up to 2 million Btu/h input. This complete line makes it easy for users and installers to find what they need for any hydronic or water-heating application. To go along with our comprehensive product line, we design and engineer our own controls and user interfaces. Whether it is a commercial boiler or a residential boiler, the installer or service provider will have the same easy navigation and control logic, making their jobs easier. What’s new and is it an extension of your current lineup or something different? A: Recently launched, the NOBLE Fire Tube Combi boiler is something we’re really excited about. Available in three models from 110,000 to 199,999 Btu/h, we feel we’ve hit the mark in providing a product that contractors will appreciate and end users will enjoy. Its user-friendly interface displays in plain English, not codes, which makes this combi a real standout. It provides consistent, fast, reliable heat that comes in an easy-to-use, easy-to-service and easy-to-program combi. This combi boiler is designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S. and has a 10-year heat exchanger warranty and a fiveyear parts warranty. What’s more, we recently launched our tankless water heater product line. Models are available in condensing, non-condensing, non-condensing concentric vent and non-condensing ultra-low NOx. These new products truly will round out Lochinvar’s already extensive family of water-heating solutions. How do your products address industry issues and needs? A: Lochinvar always has taken pride in being a manufacturer that listens. We’ve watched as other products similar to NOBLE are rather difficult to service, where the parts that might need service are located behind the wiring and other obstacles. We offer a clean, easy-to-access product that’s actually easy to program and diagnose. The SMART CONTROL uses plain English, not a code that has to be deciphered with a manual. Tailored vanity program A new, tailored vanity program partnership between Kitchen & Bath Express and Kohler eliminates long lead times, making it easier for distributors to fulfill orders and keep the supply lines open to meet demand. The experts at Kitchen & Bath Express worked with Kohler to create the tailored vanities program. Two of Kohler’s most popular styles — the modern Jute and the transitional Poplin — are available in two finishes and four different sizes all paired with either a proprietary engineered stone or Kohler ceramic vanity top that features a rectangular, integrated sink and is predrilled for an 8-in. widespread faucet. Cabinets are fully customizable with a variety of optional drawer accessories. In-storage drawers, custom electrical outlet hardware and coordinating medicine cabinets help organize and optimize every inch of vanity space. Traditionally, ordering a Jute or Poplin vanity with a top was a custom affair. Shoppers chose their finish, top and sink combination and waited four to six weeks to receive their finished cabinet. With the tailored vanity program at Kitchen & Bath Express, vanities and tops are in stock and ready to ship. Most orders will ship the same day they’re received. Wholesale customers will appreciate how much thought went into creating the engineered stone vanity top. Crafted from mostly organic material, the top also is: • 100% solid, beautiful and easy to maintain; • Nonporous so it is stain, mold and mildew resistant; and • Sealing not required, making cleaning and maintenance easy. The vanity tops are so versatile, they fit both the Jute and the Poplin without sacrificing any style. Because both models are in stock and most ship the same day orders are received, long lead times are now a headache of the past. Crafted of hardwoods and finished to withstand the wettest room in the house, the Jute and the Poplin also feature plenty of storage, with enough space for everything shoppers need to put their best face forward every day. Doors and drawers are soft close, an amenity discerning designers and homeowners have come to expect. Customers who love the clean look of a floating vanity will love the Jute. It comes in either white or perfectly on-trend gray. For shoppers who prefer their vanities with legs, optional black iron vanity legs are available for all Jute cabinets. For shoppers who prefer a vanity that can satisfy both a rustic and transitional preference, the Poplin is the perfect piece. The wood-grain finish evokes a truly rustic tone while the white can be either traditional or transitional. Kitchen & Bath Express is a new wholesale master distribution division helping wholesale customers source and fulfill orders of boutique and decorative plumbing products. Bonomi streamlines the buying and selling of automated valve packages Bonomi thinks buying — or selling — an actuated valve should be a simple matter. “We make it as easy as possible at Bonomi. There is one part number and all the components of our actuated valve packages are made for one another,” says Rick Wentzell, head of marketing for Bonomi North America. “They’re designed around each other.” The Bonomi Group is the world’s only singlesource manufacturer of low-torque, direct-mount ball valves and pneumatic and electric actuators. As a result, Bonomi valves and actuators go together naturally into automated valve packages. Simplified ordering “We’ve taken our actuators and our valves and put them together as performance-matched units with a single part number for the entire package,” Wentzell continues. Because Bonomi valve packages have only one simple part number, the ordering process is streamlined. Other suppliers that outsource the valve, the actuator or both, plus the brackets and couplings, can have as many as 20 different part numbers per unit. Precise control As industrial processes have become more sophisticated, the demand for precision has greatly increased. Bonomi is meeting that demand with a large selection of V-ball valves including flanged, three-piece or wafer bodies with 15°, 30°, 60° or 90° V-balls. For even greater control, specifiers can choose 15/30°, 30/60° or 60/90° V-balls or baffled control balls in two- or three-way configurations. All are offered as factory assembled automated packages. Cost-saving options Bonomi recently introduced three-way automated butterfly valve tee assemblies. They are designed for mixing or diversion operations in commercial and industrial HVAC and water applications. Available in six flow configurations in sizes 2 in. through 12 in., they can offer significant cost savings compared to same-size three-way ball valves. They are delivered fully assembled and like all Bonomi valves are 100% tested before shipping. Single-source accountability Actuated valves play critical roles in commercial and industrial applications. Plenty can go wrong if a component fails. When the source of the actuator or valve is not the same company, finger-pointing and denial of responsibility are likely outcomes. That doesn’t happen with Bonomi valve packages. “The buck stops here with Bonomi,” Wentzell says. “You’re covered because we produce everything. It’s backed with more than 100 years of flow control expertise and global engineering support.” About Bonomi Bonomi North America has served the U.S. and Canada since 2003 and is part of the Bonomi Group of Brescia, Italy, founded in 1901. Bonomi Group brands include Rubinetterie Bresciane Bonomi (RB) brass ball valves and check valves; Valpres carbon and stainless steel ball valves; and Valbia pneumatic and electric industrial actuators. Bonomi North America maintains an extensive distribution network for these products from its headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., and a facility in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. WinAIR handles the lowest of pressure ranges Measuring differential pressure between two inlet pressures was always problematic. Two pressure gauges were required and their readings then had to be calculated by subtracting the high-side from the low-side. This issue was amplified when the pressure gauges were physically located in different areas of the control cabinet or room or when the requirement was for low-pressure readings, which standard pressure gauges typically are not equipped to handle. Winters has developed a solution for these issues, the PFD WinAIR Differential Gauge. WinAIR is a diaphragm-actuated, resistance-free pressure gauge that can be used for measuring positive, negative or differential pressure of air and noncorrosive gases. This product is available in a broad range of pressures from very low “H2O column to 150” H2O, including a variety of pressure scales (“H2O, mmH2O, psi, Pa and others). With a full-scale 2% accuracy rating, WinAIR performs especially well when installed on industrial filters, ventilation and duct systems, clean rooms, fans and blowers, paint booths, dust collectors and many other applications. WinAIR’s 4” dial is easy-to-read at any distance and with the convenience of a lens-accessible re-zero screw, this product is field-calibratable. Its housing is constructed of industrial-grade, die-cast aluminum and is able to withstand operating temperatures up to 150°F (60°C). A variety of accessories are available with WinAIR, including mounting adapters which come standard with the product. As with all Winters’ mechanical instruments, Winters warrantees WinAIR against manufacturing defects for a full five years. For more information, contact Winters Instruments at 1-800-WINTERS or www.winters.com. The Distribution Point The Distribution Point started with a simple goal: providing the wholesale community with an independent master-distribution source for leading faucet and fixture brands while delivering outstanding customer service and amazing inventory. It was this drive to continue to increase the breadth of inventory that moved TDP to adopt a new family of brands to be exclusively available through The Distribution Point. “We wanted to give our customers something special,” explains Harry Lampe, director of product development for The Distribution Point. “We felt there was a need in the marketplace for highquality up-to-the-minute product at competitive price points. Our goal was to provide customers with stylish bath, kitchen and lighting items exclusive to The Distribution Point. Additionally, we wanted a portfolio of brands that were not only beautiful, but also produced strong margins for our customers.” Of course, investing in a new brand, let alone three, is a risk for any company, but The Distribution Point took on the challenge and was rewarded for its efforts. “The response to our 2017 soft launch of Cahaba was overwhelmingly positive,” Lampe affirms. “Cahaba Classics, our historically-inspired brand, launched just before Christmas. And our new lighting brand, Sirét, will be available this summer.” Cahaba First launched in fall of 2017, Cahaba produces luxury-oriented, on-trend kitchen-and-bath fixtures with the quality of higher-end fixtures, but at a more favorable price point. The style encapsulates everything from transitional to modern, including transitional, updated traditional, midcentury modern and modern farmhouse trends. Current product offerings include stainless steel sinks, engineered quartz kitchen sinks, kitchen faucets, bathroom sinks, vanity tops and linear drains. Starting this spring, additional product lines will include free-standing tubs, vanities, bath faucets and medicine cabinets. Cahaba Classics Launching in mid-December 2017, Cahaba Classics produces historically-inspired, timeless kitchen-and-bath fixtures. Connecting vintage charm with innovation, the timeless designs marry technology with on-trend finishes and modern materials. Elegant, sophisticated and graceful aesthetics are evident in every handcrafted fixture. Initial offerings include a clawfoot tub collection with tub fillers and related components. Bath-and- kitchen faucets will be added this spring. SirŽt Coming this summer, Sirét’s collection of fashionable, luxury-oriented lighting fixtures are designed to meet the functional style demands of today’s modern consumer. The brand style captures everything from old-world charm to modern classics with features such as green technology, on-trend finishes, real crystal drops and luxurious fabric. Sirét’s lighting collection will include chandeliers, pendants, mini-pendants, sconces, flushmount, bath, outdoor and LED fixtures. There have been a lot of changes in the industry in 2017, particularly in the wholesale distribution channel. The Distribution Point continues to be one of the few independent master distributors left standing. Customers can continue to count on the friendly touch and flexibility that sets TDP apart from other master distributors.
