Schiewetz, 97, the surviving founding member of Primus, which later became WinWholesale, died April 18 in Dayton, OH. He was president of the company from its founding in 1956 until 1998 when he became chairman, which he remained until his retirement in 2002. During his tenure, the organization grew from one N. O. Nelson plumbing distributor in Pueblo, CO, to several hundred local companies with annual sales of more than $1 billion when he retired. “Dick truly was an American original. He had an unwavering belief in what we have come to call The Spirit of Opportunity,” said Rick Schwartz, president and CEO of Win- Wholesale. Schwartz succeeded Schiewetz as president in 1998. “He had the mind of an engineer, which he was, but he also was a very astute businessman who believed in providing the opportunity for people who would work hard to fulfi ll their dreams through wholesaling,” Schwartz said. Before starting Primus with a small group of other investors, Schiewetz worked in management positions for Servel Corp. (now Trane) and other manufacturing companies. Forte Elects Board Of Directors >Forte Buying Group re-elected Ted Swenson of Dakota Wholesale (Sioux Falls, SD) as its president; Jeff Burton of The Bath & Beyond (San Francisco, CA) as VP; Howard Frankel of Central Plumbing Supply/Grande Central Showroom (Yonkers, NY) as secretary; and Douglas Hermance of Westheimer Plumbing & Hardware (Houston, TX) as treasurer. Others elected to serve on Forte’s 2011-2012 board include C.J. Schnakenberg of Chicago Brass (Chicago, IL), Forte’s immediate past president; and directors Joel Selzer of Morrison Supply (Houston, TX), Vicki Pfeil of Miller’s Fine Decorative Hardware (Jupiter, FL), Paul Ardente of Ardente Supply/Waterspot (Providence RI), and Sheldon Edelman of Edelman Supply (Cleveland, OH). OBITUARY Julius Kramer, 94, former president of Ohio Sanitary Supply Co. (Cleveland), died April 3, 2011. He was a founding member of the Tri-State Distributors Association in the 1970s. The TSDA later expanded to become the Central Wholesalers Association (CWA) and then merged with the Michigan Association of Distributors to become the North Central Wholesalers Association (NCWA). Kramer was president of CWA in 1981-82 and also served on the board of directors of the American Supply Association. Frederick L. Munds Jr., 83, who spent many years as a manufacturers rep, died March 16. He began his career with Noland Co. In Washington, D.C., later relocating to Indianapolis as a manufacturers rep at the request of Zurn Industries. He operated independently until 1974, when he and Joe Q. Pindell formed P-M & Associates, where Munds spent the next 22 years building the business.
