H aving grown up in the world of Facebook and Twitter, and having truly witnessed the Internet changing from a luxury to a necessity for most people, I like to think I have a good understanding on where we are as a society today, from how we communicate with people to how we access information. But this doesn’t stop at a personal level – businesses are taking note, and should be pursuing ways beyond traditional means to grow further. Today, for business owners, it’s practically unheard of if your business doesn’t have its own website. But there’s more that you can do to grow your business beyond just a website. Facebook and Twitter pages come to mind as places where businesses can connect with customers and would-be customers. As John Braun has noted in the past, blogging is another way. He takes this conversation further in this month’s issue with “Dominate the Web with Mini-Sites” on pg. 26 , a piece, which you may have guessed, is all about mini-websites. There are plenty of other goodies in this month’s issue which relate to business growth. For instance, leather cleaning (pg. 22) could be that service you add to give your business that competitive advantage we’re all striving for. And Steve Toburen has written about avoiding complacency (pg. 12), which is potentially disastrous to any growth you’ve previously achieved. It’s a competitive market out there, and surely those who differentiate themselves from the rest of the pack, and excel at it, are those who will be the most successful.
