The synergism of content and networking opportunities between all levels of the industry created a positive energy that uplifted spirits to levels we haven’t seen for years. Like a New Year’s Celebration According to 2010 U.S. Department of Commerce figures as reported by TCNA (see report on page 10) , tile consumption posted double-digit growth in the first half of this year after four years of decline. Buoyed by the improving business climate and optimism for continuing growth, although modest by most predictions, there was an unmistakably positive vibe at Total Solutions. We may not yet be all the way through the tunnel, but it was as though everyone at the gathering was rejoicing in the recovery’s bright white light, at least in the spirit of fellowship triggered by this industry-first event. Culminating with a beach party reception and dinner, the evening’s festive crowd erupted into a party reminiscent of a New Year’s celebration. The dance floor was still packed with revelers long after the official ending time and those remaining were persuaded to leave only by the draw of an impromptu sing-a-long session at the piano, lead by Florida Tile’s pianist and singer extraordinaire: Massimo Barbari.
