Service is part of the product.<br /> <br /> We see our relationship with AFE as a way to be better able to reach out to members. Over the years, as part of our industry training efforts, IDEAL has donated millions of dollars in products to trade schools, vo-tech schools and other training facilities. We look forward to expanding our training with AFE Chapters throughout the country.<br /> <br /> AFE: What emerging issue(s) does the profession need to have on its radar and why?<br /> <br /> GH: Safety in the workplace is an ever-present concern and a major focus for IDEAL. We recognize that facilities engineers and maintenance professionals are at the forefront of this issue and we’re committed to providing resources that promote workplace safety for the engineers, and solutions and training to ensure a safe environment for the facility overall.<br /> <br /> We consider this issue of such great importance that IDEAL is currently establishing a new division dedicated to focusing on health, safety and environmental awareness in the workplace. This will include the provision of products, services and support for personal safety, work-place safety, environmental testing, and much more over the next several years. It is more important today than ever for employees to be well-educated in safe work practices and for companies to support and promote such a culture. IDEAL plans to be a major provider of education and products that support a safe and healthy work environment.<br /> <br /> AFE: In light of current events, how do AFE Global Technical Partners play a role in helping our members to prepare their facilities for natural disasters and catastrophic events?<br /> <br /> GH: Education and awareness — we’re in this together. In times like these, facilities and maintenance engineers are part of the first response team. Preparation is everything. AFE members need reliable training and easily accessible resources — the Global Technical Partners are entrusted to provide the training and solutions. AFE brings it all together — making the connections that help to prepare the profession for managing during urgent situations. IDEAL products such as insulation testers, thermal imaging cameras, lockout/tagout products — to name a few — have been used in many disaster areas in the past — helping with the recovery and rebuilding process after a disaster or catastrophic event.<br /> <br /> AFE: Ten years from now, what impact would IDEAL like to have made on the facilities engineering and maintenance profession through its partnership with AFE?<br /> <br /> GH: We want safety to be a workplace priority. Through AFE members we are able to keep our finger on the pulse of our customers’ needs in this regard. Our work together saves lives.
